This page gives an overview of the material available to registered users who can download the files from this site. After you have logged on as a registered user, there will be another menu off this one named 'Whixley Downloads' and selecting this allows the download of the Whixley database spreadsheet plus photograph files.
This project was the eighth in the series, completed in February 2016. It is a new survey designed to locate all known MIs (Memorial Inscriptions), photograph and transcribe their contents plus map all known burials onto a spreadsheet plan. The data includes all recorded burials from 1568 to 2016.
Whixley is a small village mid way between York and Harrogate in North Yorkshire; I live within this Parish.
Unlike the other surveys on this site, no Sexton/interment book or plan has been found - these appear to have been 'lost' some years ago and are not in the North Yorkshire Archives. This means that only burials with an existing readable MI could be used to produce the 'map' of the churchyard and hence the locations of the majority of burials are unknown. Two pages of an old MI transcription list have been located and included in the data but the many other pages which must have existed have also gone missing. If anyone discovers any interment information for Whixley please do get in touch.
The plans on the spreadsheet contain all existing readable MIs (as of March 2016). The latest update (v2.1 - October 2016) indicates the entries in the burial register (coloured blue) where the actual burials were in the Green Hammerton Chapel of Ease prior to Green Hammerton using its own register in 1918.
